What it is:  Microblogging tool with 100 character limit. 

How it works:  Very similar to twitter but allows more in-depth discussion of each post. Simply click on the comment, a new page opens, you can read all the comments to the original post and comment yourself. In this way, it is similar to facebook statuses.

How it might be used in education:  Unlike twitter, Jaiku would allow for in-depth discussion back and forth between students and the class at large. The teacher could send a question and all students could respond to the question and to each other.

Pros:  Can hook up to RSS feeds, can add images, each post has its own page for comments on that post

Cons:   Mobile devices still problematic.
